Weed Control

Young maize seedlings can be overwhelmed by later spring germinating weeds.  Early season weed control is essential to achieve full yield potential.  Weeds take full advantage of the wide rows and upright growth of maize – colonising the bare soil beneath.

Leystar will control a wide spectrum of weeds including black nightshade, cleavers, chickweed, hemp nettle and forget-me-not.

Apply when forage maize is between the 3-6 leaf stage, and before the crop is over 20 cm tall. Leystar must not be applied once buttress roots have started to form on the first node.

To protect surface water, do not apply Leystar to maize before 10th April.
